Screening for Plagiarism
The Editorial Board of Java Nursing Journal (JNJ) recognizes that plagiarism is unacceptable and is committed to maintaining the integrity and originality of all manuscripts submitted for publication. The journal therefore applies specific procedures and editorial actions when plagiarism or excessive textual similarity is identified. Java Nursing Journal (JNJ) uses Turnitin originality-checking software to screen submitted manuscripts and, where necessary, the final versions of manuscripts prior to publication. A maximum similarity index of 15% is permitted for submitted manuscripts. If the overall similarity index exceeds 15%, the manuscript may be returned to the author for revision and resubmission before further editorial consideration.
Minor
A limited section of another publication has been reproduced without proper citation, but no substantial data, findings, or original ideas have been appropriated.
Action: The authors will receive a warning and will be requested to revise the relevant text, provide appropriate attribution, and correctly cite the original source.
Intermediate
A significant portion of another publication has been reproduced without appropriate citation or acknowledgment of the original source.
Action: The submitted manuscript will be rejected, and the authors will be prohibited from submitting new manuscripts to Java Nursing Journal (JNJ) for a period of one year.
Severe
A substantial portion of another publication has been plagiarized, including the reproduction or appropriation of original findings, results, data, interpretations, or ideas.
Action: The manuscript will be rejected, and the authors will be prohibited from submitting new manuscripts to Java Nursing Journal (JNJ) for a period of five years.
All authors are responsible for the originality, accuracy, and integrity of the manuscript submitted to Java Nursing Journal (JNJ). All listed authors are expected to have reviewed and approved the manuscript and to understand the journal's publication ethics, copyright, and plagiarism policies.
When plagiarism or serious publication misconduct is confirmed, any editorial action or sanction imposed by the journal may apply to all authors of the manuscript, subject to the circumstances of the case and the journal's editorial assessment.
